Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux 2015 Raveneau
Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux 2015 Raveneau is one of the purest and most terroir-driven expressions of Chablis, crafted by Domaine Raveneau, one of Burgundy’s most respected and traditional producers. The Butteaux climat, located on the right bank of the Serein River, is highly regarded for its ability to express the chalky, marine and mineral identity of the region with remarkable clarity.
The soils are composed of limestone rich in oyster fossils and marine sediments, a defining geological feature that gives the wine its saline, chalky and deeply mineral character. Combined with Chablis’ unique climate, this terroir produces wines of tension, precision and longevity.
The philosophy of the Domaine Raveneau is rooted in traditional, low-intervention viticulture: carefully controlled yields, hand harvesting, selective pruning and indigenous yeast fermentations, all aimed at preserving terroir expression and fruit integrity.
In the glass, the wine shows a pale straw yellow color with green reflections. The aromatic profile is refined and complex, showing white peach, apple, fresh citrus and a strong chalky mineral backbone.
On the palate it is fresh, vibrant and perfectly balanced, driven by a precise and energetic acidity that defines its linear yet deep structure.
The finish is long, saline and persistent, echoing the chalky, fossil-rich soils of the cru. A wine that fully embodies the Raveneau philosophy: purity, precision and exceptional ageing potential.
