Bourgogne Rouge 2019 Domaine Philippe Livera
The grapes for the production of this 2019 Bourgogne Rouge, entry level from Domaine Philippe Livera, come from the estate's own vineyard 'Vignes Blanches', of just under two acres of vines within the appellation boundary of Gevrey-Chambertin, which was first planted in the 1960s.
The soils are a classic Burgundian blend of clay and limestone, while the wine is made using natural farming methods that aim to express the different terroirs authentically. Fermentations are spontaneous using only indigenous yeasts, while the wine is aged in French oak barrels for between 11 and 18 months depending on the vintage.
The 2019 Bourgogne Rouge from Domaine Philippe Livera is a respectable entry level wine, endowed with great depth and finesse: it expresses aromas of red fruits, earthy notes and incense on the nose, for an intense and succulent sip.
