Marsannay Clos du Roy "Le Pau" Vieilles Vignes 2019 Jean Fournier
The 2019 Marsannay Clos du Roy "Le Pau" is a red wine from Burgundy produced by Domaine Jean Fournier, now run by the son of Jean Laurent Fournier, a talented and passionate winemaker who produces wines with authenticity in a non-interventionist style.
Winemaking is done with 75% whole cluster, no added yeast, no clarification. The must macerates cold for a period of six days, with temperature control throughout the winemaking process, then pressed during fermentation. The wine ages in new oak barrels for one year, then aged in used demi-muids for nine months.
The Marsannay Clos du Roi "Le Pau" is made from a selection of very old Pinot Noir grapes in Clos du Roy, where the vines grow on a very compact limestone soil. The 2017 Marsannay Pur Pot expresses a bouquet of jammy black cherries, spice and floral notes, for a balanced and spicy sip on the finish.
