Corton Grand Cru Le Rognet 2018 Bruno Clavelier
Bruno Clavelier's Corton Grand Cru Le Rognet is a great red wine from Burgundy made from Pinot Noir grapes sourced from a 3400-square-meter parcel in the hillside of Corton. The vines are between 35 and 70 years old and are located on a 280-meter-high slope on chalk and marl soil. Domaine Bruno Clavelier took over the plot in 1999 and carried out careful soil work so that the roots could push deep into the soil to get the nutrients.
Biodynamic methods are used in the vineyard and the Domaine is certified organic. Harvesting is strictly by hand with strict selection before vinification in open, conical-shaped oak vats. The wine is aged in oak barrels for a year and a half. It is then bottled without filtration and with neutral gas to limit sulfur requirements. Bottling is done according to the lunar calendar.
This cuvée is perfectly balanced, with velvety tannins and fine acidity. Broad and persistent on the palate.
