The Pineau d'Aunis Picrochole from Domaine de Montrieux, expertly crafted by Ariane Lesné, stands as an authentic expression of the Loire Valley. The grapes used for this exceptional wine come from the indigenous Pineau d'Aunis variety, cultivated with dedication and passion in vineyards near Tours. Ancient vines, aged between 10 and 30 years, contribute to the foundation of this magnificent creation.
The terroir plays a crucial role in shaping the distinctive character of Picrochole. The vineyards benefit from a favorable microclimate and well-drained soils, bestowing the grapes with balanced maturity and a unique aromatic profile. Ariane Lesné's careful vineyard management, initiated at Domaine de Montrieux in 2016, reflects her dedication to sustainability and a natural approach to viticulture.
The Pineau d'Aunis grapes undergo a meticulous vinification process, commencing with extended whole-cluster macerations lasting a remarkable 10 weeks. This prolonged contact with the skins fully extracts the aromas and tannins, imparting an elegant and well-defined structure to the wine. The 12-month aging period in fiberglass containers adds further complexity to the Picrochole, allowing the wine to reach its full maturity and express its distinctive qualities.
