Champagne Royal Reserve 2014 Philipponat
The Champagne Royal Reserve 2014 is a fine Champagne produced by the renowned Maison Philipponat. This Champagne identifies the style and tradition of the company and is a tribute to the Philipponat family, one of the main suppliers of Louis XIV and magistrates of the city of Ay, hence the name "Royal". It is obtained from the grapes of the best vineyards of the Grand and Premier Cru of Champagne: Pinot Noir (65%) mainly, and then Chardonnay (30%) and Pinot Meunier (5%). 20% of reserve wines are added to the cuvée with the solera method, then the second fermentation takes place according to the Champanoise method and then the bottle rests on the lees for about three years. It is these processes that give Champagne complexity and evolution of scents, plus a large structure. Champagne Royale Brut Réserve Philipponnat shows a bright golden color with amber reflections, with fine, numerous and persistent perlage. The nose expresses floral and slightly toasted hints, together with nuances of red fruits, citrus fruits and honey. In the mouth it is fresh, complex and structured, with fruity aromas and a long finish of yeasts and bread crust. An exemplary champagne made even more important by the long aging.
