Barolo Vigna Rionda 2016 Ester Canale Rosso is a fine red wine from Piedmont produced by Giovanni Rosso in Serralunga d'Alba. The historic winery founded by Giovanni Rosso is credited with elevating Nebbiolo to the highest level.
One hectare of the estate's 10 hectares has recently been added to the famous Vigna Rionda, a prestigious cru from which this Barolo of incomparable class and quality is obtained. Fermentation lasts about 28 days with daily pumping over and délestage at mid-point (vinification in steel tanks), while ageing takes place in 16 hl Slavonian oak casks (from 18 to 36 months depending on the vintage).
The Barolo Vigna Rionda 2016 Ester Canale Rosso has an intense ruby red colour with garnet highlights. The nose expresses a broad and penetrating bouquet from which emerge elegant floral aromas of violets and roses, notes of berry jam, balsamic tones and hints of tar and leather. The taste is warm and enveloping, full-bodied with silky, well-integrated tannins and a very long finish. An excellent wine, a Barolo for connoisseurs of rare class and consistency.
