Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Bertani 2004 - Description
Amarone Bertani is a wine that comes from the vineyards of Corvina Veronese, Rondinella and a selection of bunches that, according to the method used to make Valpolicella wine, is dried naturally and ferments very slowly in the middle of winter. Subsequently it will mature in large oak barrels to allow it to reach the balance and harmony of Amarone wine after years, a balance that it will maintain for many decades, in fact it is a very long-lived wine.
In the glass is a beautiful intense ruby red with garnet hues, the nose, like all great red wines for aging, is intense and really complex, among the different notes stand out plum, cherry and morello cherry, followed by dried fruit, tea leaves, licorice and a wide variety of spices.
In the mouth it is dry and soft, the sip fills the mouth with notes of red fruit and hints of vanilla, the tannins are perfectly balanced by acidity and the finish is really elegant, clean and very persistent, it should be combined with structured and important dishes, such as the famous Amarone risotto.
Bertani's Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is certainly one of the great Italian reds, a long-lived wine capable of challenging time.
