Volnay 1er Cru Les Fremiets 2019 is a fine Burgundy wine produced by Domaine Joseph Voillot. The wines of Domaine Joseph Voillot are considered by many to be among the best expressions of Volnay: the Domaine gives life to Pinot Noirs that are strongly predisposed to ageing, tasty but at the same time elegant and very pleasant, designed to be drunk with family or friends. This 1er Cru is situated at the eastern end of the appellation adjacent to Pommard, on a subsoil of chalk and dusty limestone. Produced from vines with an average age of 60 years, this wine is aged for 14 months in 15% new oak. The nose expresses a complex bouquet of raspberry and strawberry jam, sweet tobacco and balsamic and menthol notes. The taste is rich but elegant and pleasant, with a silky tannic texture and long persistence. Good to drink even now, it is suited to long ageing, as are all Joseph Voillot labels.
