Fleurie "La Madone" 2018 Justin Dutraive
Justin Dutraive's Fleurie "La Madone" is a red wine produced in the Beaujolais region of France from Gamay grapes sourced from vineyards located in the hills of Fleurie.
The Gamay grapes used in the production of Fleurie "La Madone" come from vineyards owned by the winery, located in the hills of Fleurie, in the northern part of Beaujolais. The vineyards face southeast and enjoy a cool, breezy climate that favors balanced ripening of the grapes.
Vinification follows traditional Beaujolais techniques, with semi-carbonic maceration of whole grapes for about 12 to 15 days. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, without the addition of selected yeasts. After fermentation, the wine is aged for several months in wooden barrels of various sizes to give it structure and aromatic complexity.
Justin Dutraive's Fleurie "La Madone" is a medium red wine, characterized by a bright ruby color. On the nose, there are aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and strawberries, accompanied by floral and spicy notes. In the mouth, the wine is fresh, balanced and very aromatic, with soft tannins and good acidity. The finish is persistent and pleasantly fruity.
Justin Dutraive's Fleurie "La Madone" is highly regarded by international critics, who praise its finesse, freshness and aromatic complexity. The wine has been included in Wine & Spirits magazine's list of the "50 Best Beaujolais Wines" of 2020, and has received high scores from some of the industry's leading guides, such as Wine Spectator and Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Fleurie "La Madone" is considered one of the best examples of Fleurie, a Beaujolais cru known for its elegance and finesse.
