The Giovanni Sordo winery is a true institution in the Langhe, blending century-old tradition with territory-respecting innovation. The vineyards grow on calcareous-clay soils of ancient marine origin, often with sand and silt, and enjoy a mild, ventilated climate, ideal for native grapes such as Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto.

Each plot is managed individually to produce wines that reflect the unique character of the land: from historic Barolo crus such as Monprivato, Monvigliero and Cannubi, to Barbaresco and Roero vineyards. Vine management is sustainable, with grassed interrows to promote biodiversity, no herbicides or chemical fertilizers, and treatments only with sulfur and Bordeaux mixture, using synthetic products only in extreme cases.

Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected to ensure quality and integrity. Winemaking follows traditional methods, with gentle macerations and extractions that respect the fruit’s identity. Aging mainly occurs in large Slavonian oak casks, allowing slow and harmonious maturation while preserving the natural aromas of Nebbiolo and other varietals.
