Saumur Clos des Carmes Monpole Breze 2013 Guiberteau by Emanuele Spagnuolo 27/07/2018
The wines of Guiberteau are always majestic, but this 2013 by Clos des Carmes monopole is one of the best Chenin Blanc in my life.
The nose begins with some notes of exotic and citric fruit, but then after a few minutes turns to the nose with notes of flint, green melon peel, gunpowder.
Somehow this Chenin on the nose reminds you of something of Burgundy, the Meursault area, there is the same rigor of the great producers over there.
In the mouth it is a powerful wine, deep and very complex. It maintains balance and elegance even when the flavor is at the highest levels and could go over other sensations on the palate.
The finesse in this glass is the master. The wine is tense and mineral as we like it. Wine with almost infinite evolutionary potentiality. Just ready despite already three years of bottle.
Disarming wine for the pleasantness of drinking never affected despite the complexity and importance of matter and terroir.
