FRANCOIS COTAT

Francois & Pascal Cotat Grandi BottiglieFrancois Cotat, wines from Loire Valley

Welcome to Chavignol, capital of the famous Sancerre name, in the Loire Valley, where François Cotat has become an undisputed master in the art of transforming Sauvignon Blanc juices into true divine nectars.

Here the beauty of the place fills the eyes with wonder and the wines enchant the hearts. Imagine steep slopes like the corner of your elbow when you bring a glass of Sancerre to your lips.

The style of François Cotat is the expression of terroir in its quintessence. Don't confuse him with his cousin Pascal on Sancerre who also produces superb wines: apparently, making wine in the Cotat family is in the blood!

François inherited the vines from his father Paul. Not just any vineyard, since its 4 hectares are set in the 3 most beautiful terroirs of Sancerre: "La Grande Côte", "Les Monts Damnés" and "Les Culs de Beaujeu".

The soils of François Cotat's terroir are composed of kimmeridian marl, dry limestone with strong stones with flint, clay and silica. The main grape variety here is Sauvignon Blanc, brilliantly enlarged by François Cotat, whose rule number one is to simply let nature take its course.

François Cotat produces natural wines without sulphites, the harvest is manual and the vinification is done naturally without filtering or clarifying the wine.
