MEINKLANG

meinklang grandi bottiglieMeinklang: natural wines from Austria

The Meinklang company is located in Pamhagen, a small Austrian municipality, in Burgenland, on the eastern side of Lake Neusiedl, and extends beyond the Hungarian border. The name Meinklang derives from the words Mien, in my Italian, which describes the style of the young winemaker Werner Michlits, and klang, which means harmony with nature.

The company has 200 hectares of land, of which 55 are planted with vineyards, and is the largest wine estate in Austria. In addition to the vineyards, the Michlits family produces beer and honey, raises animals, and cultivates the land in a closed circuit. The vineyards are worked in biodynamic, with Demeter certification, in a garden specially built to create the suitable habitat for the growth of the vineyard. The cultivated vines are the indigenous ones of the region: San Lorenzo, Grüner Veltiner, Zwigelt, Blaufränkish, in addition to those traditionally cultivated, such as Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir, while in the Hungarian part we find Juhfark and Hárslevelü.

In the cellar, the interventions are minimal, with spontaneous fermentations, the absence of chemicals if not minimal quantities of sulfur added to the bottling. Aging takes place in steel, concrete or wooden tanks. The Meinklang wines represent the territory of origin in a pure and authentic way, respecting the land and the cycles of nature.
