The Ballot-Millot winery is a family-run business located in Meursault, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, where it owns its finest Crus. The origins of the winery are very old (dating back to the 17th century) and since 2000, after 15 generations, the company has been run by Charles Ballot.
His philosophy is based on a combination of tradition and innovation and a great love and respect for nature, directing the winery towards an organic and sustainable type of viticulture: for about 10 years the vineyards have been ploughed without any type of chemical herbicide, but using only homeopathic mixtures.
The pruning phase is very rigorous: Charles favours yield control during the spring instead of thinning the bunches in the autumn, while harvesting is done by hand. Domaine Ballot Millot offers a wide range of wines from different appellations and crus, including Meursault itself, Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay, Pommard and Beaune, expressing at their best the characteristics of the different terroirs: we find softness and fruit in the great white wines of Meursault and Chassagne Montrachet, more richness and elegance in the wines of Pommard, Volnay and Beaune.
