Castiglion del Bosco is a Tuscan winery with very ancient origins. The estate was built 800 years ago but it was in 1967, the year the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino was founded, that Castiglion del Bosco became one of its twenty-five founding members.

In 2003 Massimo Ferragamo bought the property and began his work of restoring the historic sites of the estate, renovating the village and villas and modernising the facilities, soon bringing the name of Castiglion del Bosco to the forefront of the world.

Perched on the slope of a hill and almost hidden from view, the new winery was designed to get the best from the grapes grown in the vineyards of Castiglion del Bosco and Riparbella. The grapes are carefully selected in the vineyard and then transferred by gravity to the 100-150 hl tanks where separate fermentation takes place for grapes from the different vineyards.

After fermentation, the wines are transferred to French oak barriques and barrels where maturation takes place, followed by refinement in the bottle which, depending on the wine, can last from 6 to 36 months before release for sale. At Castiglion del Bosco, the winery is managed by Cecilia Leoneschi, who has been in charge since 2003.
