DOMAINE LABET

domaine labet jura grandi bottiglieDomaine Labet, vorganic wines from Jura

Domaine Labet was established in 1974 by Josie and Alain Labet, today it is in the hands of their three children Julien, Romain and Charline who carry on the work following the creative and original ideas of their parents.

The estate is located in the south of the Jura region in Revermont and consists of 15 hectares of yellow, blue and white red marl, all converted to organic farming.

This allows the Labet family to cultivate the traditional 70 years old vines in a completely natural way.

The most cultivated vines are the autochthonous Chardonnay and Savagnin, cultivated according to two different methods: the first one is called "sous voile", more traditional, where during the aging period casks are not filled in order to form a layer of yeasts which contributes to give the typical oxidized scent which characterizes the wines of this territory.

The second method was introduced by Alain Labet under the name of "ouilles", where the aging takes place by topping up casks, similar to the style of Bourgogne.

Today Domaine Labet is recognized for the production of top quality pure organic wines and it is a worldwide reference for natural white wines from Jura.
