Pinot Noir 2017 Giulia Negri
Pinot Noir 2017 is a red wine from Piedmont produced by Giulia Negri. This bottle is an example of how the young Piedmontese winemaker wants to combine experimentation with tradition, in a more eclectic and innovative vision of making wine. It is in fact produced from pure Pinot Noir grapes, a variety that is hardly found in the Barolo area, coming from a cru located in the north in the highest and coldest part of the vineyard, where the insolation is scarce and Pinot Noir manages to grow in optimal conditions. The calcareous clay soil, which gives elegance to the wines, adapts well to this type of grape variety which is able to express itself best in these conditions. The grapes are harvested manually, and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts is carried out in truncated cone-shaped vats, with maceration of about 25 days, while the maturation takes place in French oak barriques for 14 months. This Pinot Noir takes the name of "La Tartufaia" referring to a forest of 14 hectares that surrounds the cellar, where it is possible to go for walks in search of the precious white truffle of Alba. Pinot Nero 2017 by Giulia Negri shows an elegant ruby red color, with a nose of delicate violets and red roses, along with notes of musk and spices such as white pepper and cinnamon. The sip is of good freshness with a silky tannin: a pleasant surprise to taste in the Langa.
