Description

Pessac-Léognan "La Mission Haut-Brion" 2001 Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan AOC Rouge Grand Cru Classé "La Mission Haut-Brion" 2001 is a red wine of rare elegance and complexity that embodies the tradition and excellence of the Bordeaux region. This extraordinary wine comes from the prestigious appellation of controlled origin (AOC) of Pessac-Léognan, located in the southern part of the Graves region of Bordeaux. The area is renowned for producing the highest quality red and white wines, thanks to its temperate climate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and unique terroir.

"La Mission Haut-Brion" 2001 is a harmonious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Merlot (44%) and Cabernet Franc (11%) grapes. These grape varieties are a perfect match thanks to the soils rich in gravel, sand and clay on which the vineyards of Château La Mission Haut-Brion grow. The particular composition of the soil ensures optimal drainage and a supply of minerals essential to give the wine a distinctive and unmistakable character. Château La Mission Haut-Brion follows a philosophy of sustainable and environmentally friendly cultivation. Vines are tended using traditional methods, such as hand pruning and using horses to work the soil, minimizing the use of heavy machinery. This ecological approach is fundamental to the preservation of biodiversity and the protection of the richness of the terroir.

The winemaking process for the 2001 "La Mission Haut-Brion" begins with manual harvesting of the grapes to ensure maximum control over the quality of the harvests. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness and intensity of the grapes' aromas. Next, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for a period of 18-22 months, 50% of which are new. This process gives the wine a balanced tannic structure and a complex bouquet of aromas.

The 2001 Pessac-Léognan AOC Rouge Grand Cru Classé "La Mission Haut-Brion" shows a deep ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, such as black currants, plums and cherries, enriched by notes of tobacco, spices and dark chocolate. In the mouth, the wine is full, velvety and powerful, with soft, well-integrated tannins that ensure a long, lingering finish.

This inimitable red wine is the perfect expression of the craftsmanship and passion that Château La Mission Haut-Brion devotes to producing wines of the highest quality.
