Nuits St Georges La Charmotte 2016 Thibault Liger Belair

The 2016 Nuits St Georges La Charmotte is a fine Burgundy wine produced by Thibault Liger Belair. It is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the lieu-dit Les Charmottes of 0.40 hectares of very old vineyards planted in 1962, located on the border of the Premiers Crus Argilats and Bousselots in the northern part of the appellation, on clay soils and limestone and rocky subsoils. This wine fully expresses the elegance of the wines of Vosne-Romanée with the structure of the wines of Nuits-Saint Georges. The grapes are harvested by hand, 40% of the wine is made from whole bunches, fermentation is spontaneous and the wine is matured in 30% new barrels. The Nuits St Georges Les Charmottes 2016 expresses an intense ruby red colour; the nose offers intense aromas of red and black fruits, plum and a hint of lavender, for an intense and vibrant sip with silky tannins.
