Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru "Aux Murgers" 2016 Domaine Sylvain Cathiard
Il Nuits St Georges 1er Cru "Aux Murgers" 2016 is a great wine from Burgundy, produced by the young Domaine Sylvain Cathiard. The young winery, led by Sebastien, now has 7 hectares located in the communes of Vosne-Romanée, Nuits St. Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, works with the utmost care and respect for the terroir to ensure the production of pure fine wines with great longevity.
Just like the other red wines of Bourgogne, it is produced with 100% Pinot Noir grapes coming from the 1er Cru "Aux Murgers" at the northern end of Nuits St Georges, the vines are at least 70 years old and are located on a calcareous soil mixed with sand which offers an excellent drainage which contributes to limit the water intake to the vine while favoring the development of lesser but more concentrated fruits. Manual harvesting takes place in the first half of September, subsequently grapes are brought to the winery for fermentation in steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by aging in barrique, 80% of which is made of new wood, for 18 months.
Nuits St Georges 1er Cru "Aux Murgers" Cathiard shows in the glass a regal ruby red color accompanied by a wide and refined bouquet, the nose alternates ripe red berries to spicy and rocky notes. In the mouth the wine is huge, deep and ample with a great body, all the aromas recognized by the nose come back together with a very pleasing tannic texture. Very long finish with a great persistence.
A wonderful wine of a Domaine which is imposing itself at the top of the world.
