GEORGES ROUMIER

Georges Roumier grandi vini di Borgogna in vendita su Grandi BottiglieDomaine Roumier, one of the most important winery in Burgundy

The Domaine Georges Roumier is one of the most important and prestigious in the whole of Burgundy. It was founded in Chambolle Musigny in 1924 after the marriage of Georges and Geneviève Quanquin, owner of large vineyards such as Les Amoureuses, Bonnes Mares and Les Fuées. Over the years, plots have been acquired in other great vineyards: in the Clos Vougeout, the Clos de La Bussiere, the Corton Charlemagne and the famous Musigny.

Since 1982, his nephew Christophe has been the sole manager of the estate. With his 30 years of experience, he has been able to bring out the resources of elegance and sensuality so typical of the wines of Chambolle Musigny with great talent, allowing the delicate profile of the first years of the wine's life in the bottle to be constantly supported by a solid ageing potential.

The production of the wines at Domaine Roumier is carried out according to the rules and instructions of Christophe Roumier, a graduate in oenology from the Dijon school. The technical awareness reflects his studies and the style of the wines is inevitably always precise and meticulous, with great harmony and expressive balance.

For Christophe, time really does matter, so much so that he only replants a vineyard when it has reached 50 years of age. The highest quality starts with the work in the vineyard, thanks to the manual harvest and the meticulous selection of the bunches, examined one by one. The grapes are destemmed in different proportions, depending on the quality of the vintage and the Cru; only indigenous yeasts are used for a naturally slow fermentation and maceration in stainless steel lasts 25 days. The wines are aged in new vats at 20% for the Village, 25-35% for the Premier Cru and 35-45% for the Grand Cru. During malolactic fermentation, which is purposely delayed, low temperatures are maintained and the wine is aged in wood for 18 months, until the second April after the harvest. After bottling, the wine rests for a few months in the bottle.

The entire Domaine follows the indications and rules of Christophe, an oenologist who graduated from the Dijon school, bringing with him a technical awareness. His wines reflect his style, always precise and scrupulous, in search of harmony and expressive balance.
