DOMAINE ROULOT

__

The Domaine Roulot has about 15 hectares of vineyard, almost entirely in the municipality of Meursault, and produces 60 / 70,000 bottles per year. The micro plot owned by the 1er cru Les Perrières (0.26 hectare) is of particular importance. The company offers a very complete choice of territories on Meursault, especially in the south, where 90% of the wines come from. Pinot Noir, on the other hand, has a marginal importance, representing only 10% of the total production and coming from the municipalities of Auxey-Duresses and Monthélie.

A total of twenty different denominations are vinified.

The Roulot family has been present in Meursault since 1830, when Guillaume Roulot joined the vigneron activity as a distiller.

Since then, the Roulots have succeeded in leading the family business, up to the current managers Michèle and Jean-Marc. Organic viticulture, which was introduced in 1989, was entirely replaced by biodynamics in 2000.

The wines are vinified in the traditional way, in the constant search for tension and maximum minerality, a quality that makes them extremely long-lived.

Fermentation takes place in wood (20% new), bâtonnage every three to four weeks, until the start of malolactic fermentation. Following the drawing off and after a year of wood, six months of steel before bottling. The average age of the vines is very varied, since it goes from the youngest of 25 years up to the oldest of Meursault Les Luchets of almost ninety years.
