Description

Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux 2018 Domaine Bruno Clavelier

Domaine Bruno Clavelier's Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the 1er Cru omonio that lies just below the commune's Grand Cru hills.

Domaine Bruno Clavelier operates biodynamically, no chemicals are used in the vineyard and the harvest is strictly by hand, only the best grapes are brought to the winery where they are fermented with indigenous yeasts in large open truncated oak vats.

The old vines owned by Bruno Clavelier on this cru result in a wine that is more severe than others at first taste, but after about ten minutes it opens on classic notes of wild strawberries, raspberry and oriental spices.

On the palate it is beautifully woven, firm and crisp, savory and peppery, almost spicy, in short, a typical and high-level Gevrey Chambertin. In this rather hot vintage, the severity of this wine is mitigated and the wine appears generous, yet powerful. Excellent capacity for aging.

BRUNO CLAVELIER

Domaine Bruno Clavelier is based in the village of id Vosne Romnée and is run by Bruno, a former rugby player, on an organic basis. Most of the Domaine's vines are over 80 years old, which allows deep rooting in the soil, favouring a large surface area in contact with the mineral elements of the subsoil, and a naturally very limited yield. These two factors, combined with the great cleanliness of the soil - no chemical products have been used since the 1970s - guarantee a raw material of the highest quality: the grapes produced are concentrated, healthy and balanced, especially in terms of acidity, an essential element in preserving the finesse of great Burgundies.
