DOMAINE LOU DUMONT - NAKADA

Domaine Lou Dumont - Koji Nakada Grandi Bottiglie

Domaine Lou Dumont - Koji Nakada, Burgundy wines with an oriental soul

Domaine Lou Dumont - Koji Nakada was founded in 2000 by Japanese sommelier and oenologist Koji Nakada and his Korean wife Jae Hwa Park. Nakada moved to Burgundy in 1996 to study oenology at the University of Beaune. They started their business as négociants, before buying their first plots of land in Burgundy in 2012 - no easy feat for someone not originally from the area.

The name Lou Dumont is a combination of the name of their goddaughter, Lou (whom Koji describes as charming and characterful like their wines) and the French translation of 'mountain', which pays homage to the regions of Japan and Korea where Koji and Jae Hwa grew up. The Kanji symbol on the label - sky, earth and man - refers to the natural elements whose balance makes wine and the concept of terroir possible.

Koji's objective is to produce a pure, authentic Burgundy that is identified with its terroir, from grapes grown according to the rules of organic agriculture and with minimal intervention both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Koji limits pumping over and punching down as much as possible, vinifies with indigenous yeasts and adds low quantities of sulphites at bottling.
