Côte-Rôtie La Serene Noire 2019 Gangloff
Yves Gangloff's 'Sereine Noire' cuvée is a work of art, a little treasure for those lucky enough to have it in their cellar. One of the greatest expressions of Syrah Côte-Rôtie with extreme depth and finesse. This wine is made from the local Syrah clone, Serine, from the Le Mollard and Côte-Rozier plots.
The grapes are harvested by hand before being 100% destemmed and macerated for 3 weeks in temperature-controlled vats. The wine then matures for 30 months in new barrels and demi-muids only partially to develop its fruity and floral aromas.
Produced in very limited quantities by the skilful hands of Yves Gangloff, a true reference point in the region capable of expressing talent and sensitivity through his wines, this "Sereine Noire" enchants with a nose endowed with incredible richness and complexity: scents of red and dark berries alternate with mineral and smoky notes, candied liquorice and dried flowers.
The palate is well balanced between power and finesse, with sweet aromas of cherry, blueberry, mulberry and spice that are supported by a light trail of minerality and a floral note on the finish. Incredibly lingering, it is prepared to age for up to 15 years.
