DOMAINE JAMET

Domaine Jamet Grandi BottiglieIl Domaine Jamet is located a few kilometers from the village of Ampuis, in the hills of the Côte Rôtie, in the North Rhone Valley. The Domaine Jamet was founded in 1950 when Joseph Jamet, starting from a third of a hectare, began to grow and sell grapes to the main Rhône negociants.

It was only in 1976 that he began to produce his Rhône wines, and to buy vineyard plots in the steep hills of the Côte Rôtie, up to the current 8 hectares, managed today by his son Jean-Paul Jamet and his wife Corinne.

The Jamet family strongly believes in the separate vinification of each plot in order to obtain the right harmony in the final blend, balancing the most acidic grapes coming from the upper windy slopes with the most mature grapes from the vineyards of medium slopes more kissed by the sun, in order to obtain the best possible Côte Rôtie, the wine that remains is reserved to the production of their Côte du Rhône Rouge, one of the best of its category.

Domaine Jamet is best known for the legendary bottling of Côte-Rôtie and Côtes du Rhône Rouge, few know that they also bottle a Côtes du Rhône Blanc and a Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes.

Most of their vineyards are located on schistose soil near the Côte Brune, ideal for producing muscular and long-lived Syrah, distributed among the lieux-dit of Chavaroche, Fongeant, Côte-Baudin, Moutonnes, Landonne, Côte Rozier, Truchet, Bonnivières, Leyat, Le Plomb, Rochains, Lézardes, Tartaras and La Gerine. Their Syrah vineyards in the granitic lieux-dits of Côte Blonde produce more delicate fruits, rich in floral aromas and softer in texture. The low yields and regular ploughing help the grapes to achieve a robust structure and intense flavor.
