Champagne Brut Grande Sendrée Magnum 2006 Drappier

The Champagne Brut Grande Sendrée Magnum 2006, is a fine Champagne millesime produced by the Maison Drappier. Obtained from Pinot noir and Chardonnay grapes in almost equal use, it is a cuvée that is produced only in the best vintages. Its name originates from a plot of land reduced to ashes following a fire that devastated the village of Urville in 1838. It was a spelling mistake in copying the data of the land register that transformed Cendrée (incinerated) into Sendrée that today gives the name to the cuvèe, in this case Magnum version. This fine Champagne is aged for about a third in small wood (9 months overall), before the 7 years of maturation on the lees. It shows a straw yellow color with warm topaz reflections. The nose expresses complex hints of white flowers, honey and dried fruit. Then fresh fruit and citrus fruits. In the mouth it is lively but full, complex especially on the finish.
