Description

Barolo Vigna Rionda 2003 Luigi Pira

Barolo Vigna Rionda 2003 Luigi Pira is one of the pillars on which the historic winery founded its fame, is the interpretation that the Pira winery gives to the most famous and symbolic cru of Serralunga d'Alba, the "Vigna Rionda". It is a harmonious wine, balanced between structure and refinement.

Barolo Vigna Rionda Pira comes from a hectare of vineyard planted on the calcareous clayey soil of the famous cru, 330 meters above sea level. Fermentation takes place in horizontal fermenters, followed by ageing first in French barriques and then in large casks for a total of 24 months. The change of wood, always chosen with care by the winery, allows to obtain complex and never trivial wines.

Vigna Rionda Pira, like the great Barolo wines, is presented in a beautiful garnet red glass, emanating complex and mature hints of red fruit, raspberries, berries, violets and dog rose, but also spices, tobacco and liquorice. It is a wine perfectly balanced between power and elegance, with dense and well integrated tannins. A wine capable of defying time!
