Description

Barolo Marenca 2003 Luigi Pira

The Barolo Marenca is one of the fine wines of the Luigi Pira winery, historical company of Barolo and Piedmontese wine, which is located in Serralunga d'Alba. It is a wine whose grapes all come from a single cru, the Marenca vineyard of the same name, from which powerful and refined wines are produced.

Barolo Marenca Luigi Pira comes from vineyards planted in 1990 at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level on mostly calcareous soils with western exposure. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in horizontal fermenters for 12/15 days, at the end of which the wine is aged for 24 months first in small wooden barrels and then in large barrels of different types of wood. This practice makes it possible to obtain complex and never trivial wines.

The Barolo Marenca Pira presents itself in a beautiful garnet red glass, the nose convinces with hints of underbrush, rose, balsamic herbs, spices and liquorice. In the mouth we find a powerful wine of great structure with silky tannins softened by a wise use of wood. The finish is persistent with hints of flowers, mineral and spicy notes. A great Barolo!
