Description

Barolo 2011 Broccardo & Occelli

Broccardo's Barolo 2011 is a high-quality red wine produced at the winery of the same name located in the Barolo production area in Piedmont, Italy. The wine is produced using Nebbiolo grapes from vineyards owned by the winery, which cover an area of about 11 hectares and are located in the production areas of Barolo, La Morra, Serralunga d'Alba and Monforte d'Alba.

The Nebbiolo grapes used to produce Broccardo's 2011 Barolo are grown using low environmental impact cultivation techniques, with particular attention to soil and vegetation management. The winery uses pruning and thinning techniques to limit grape production and concentrate nutrients, which contributes to the production of high quality, intensely flavored grapes.

The winemaking process for Broccardo's 2011 Barolo follows local Piedmontese traditions. The grapes are harvested by hand, selected and destemmed before undergoing a long maceration in contact with the skins. Fermentation occurs naturally using the indigenous yeasts present on the grape skins, and the must is periodically remontaged to help extract tannins and aromatic compounds.

The wine is then aged in oak barrels for at least 24 months, during which it gains complexity and structure. After aging, the wine is bottled and remains bottle-aged for at least 6 months before release.

Broccardo's Barolo 2011 has an intense ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose opens with intense aromas of red fruit, cherry, plum and spices such as black pepper and cinnamon, accompanied by floral notes of rose and violet. In the mouth the wine is elegant and refined, with well-structured tannins and good acidity that balances the power of the flavor. The aftertaste is long and persistent, with notes of ripe fruit and spices that continue to evolve over time.
