Amarone della Valpolicella 2011 Sartori
Sartori's Amarone della Valpolicella 2011 is a red wine produced in the Valpolicella area, located in the Veneto region of Italy. The grapes used for the production of this wine come from several of the company's own vineyards, which cover approximately 65 hectares of hilly terrain.
The cultivation of the vines follows strict soil and plant management techniques, with the aim of obtaining high quality grapes. In particular, the company practices the "guyot" technique for pruning the vines, which involves the selection of the best shoots and the elimination of superfluous ones to encourage better ripening of the grapes. In addition, the company uses plant protection products with a low environmental impact and practices integrated disease and pest management.
The harvest was carried out manually at the end of September, in a year characterised by a mild climate and a balanced grape ripening season. After the harvest, the grapes are carefully selected and left to dry in the drying loft for about 3 months, to favour the concentration of sugars and aromas.
Vinification of Amarone della Valpolicella 2011 involves alcoholic fermentation of the dried grapes in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by a long maceration on the skins for about 25-30 days. After racking, the wine was transferred to Slavonian oak casks and French oak barriques, where it aged for about 3 years before bottling.
Sartori's Amarone della Valpolicella 2011 has an intense ruby red colour with garnet hues. On the nose, there are hints of ripe red and black fruit, such as cherry, plum and currant, accompanied by spicy notes of black pepper, cinnamon and cloves, as well as an elegant nuance of dark chocolate. In the mouth, the wine is structured and balanced, with important but soft tannins, giving it a pleasant smoothness. The finish is long and persistent, with notes of dried fruit and spices.
