Amarone Classico della Valpolicella 2015 Sergio Zenato
Amarone della Valpolicella is one of the most important Italian red wines, produced by the historic Veneto-based Zenato winery. It is obtained from a blend of grapes from the Valpolicella area, in particular: Corvina 80%, Rondinella 10%, Oseleta and Croatina 10%. As laid down in the production regulations, the yields for the production of this wine are very low. After manual harvesting, the grapes are dried in wooden crates for a period of about 4 months.
When the appropriate concentration of sugars and aromatic substances is reached, alcoholic fermentation starts with maceration on the skins for a period of 15-20 days. Maturation takes place in oak barrels for a period of at least 36 months.
Zenato's Amarone Classico della Valpolicella 2015 shows an intense and deep ruby red colour to the eye. The nose offers a complex bouquet of spicy notes, ripe cherries and cherries under spirits, plums, dried fruit, roasted aromas of coffee and cocoa. The sip is full, enveloping and velvety, very long. Whether paired with structured meat dishes or perfect as a meditation wine, this Amarone is predisposed to long ageing.
