The wines of Collecapretta were for us at Grandi Bottiglie a wonderful surprise.
These are real, territorial, natural and exciting wines produced on top of the Martani mountains at 500m s.l.m. in the municipality of Spoleto.
The Collecapretta company does not only produce wines but also breeds and cultivates wheat for the production of flour and cereals.
Since 2005, the Mattioli family, at the head of the company, decides to bottle part of the wine production while continuing the commercialization of bulk wine.
Less than five hectares of vines, they are in various plots and situations on hills with high intensity between 400 and 550 meters above sea level, with good ventilation and mainly clayey soil composition, alternated by particularly stony areas.
Collecapretta is the authentic war of territory, through the interpretation and enhancement of local grape varieties, such as Trebbiano spoletino with strains up to 60 years old and other qualities rooted in the land for over 40 years.
In the vineyard they are not herbicides, while in the vinification phase spontaneous fermentations are practiced, temperatures are not controlled and there is no addition of sulfur. Strictly handmade bottling, paying close attention to the lunar cycles, for a wide range of labels with very limited production, absolutely to be searched.
The production of wines is divided into very small lots that manage to express all the love for an undervalued territory. In our opinion, one of the best natural wines in Italy.
