Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru Monts Luisants 2017 is a fine Burgundy wine produced by Domaine des Monts Luisants. The Pinot Noir grapes come from the 1er Cru Les Monts Luisants vineyard, located on top of one of the highest hills above the Grand Cru sites in the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation. The name Monts Luisants means "shining slopes" - a reference to the bright green-gold leaves of the Aligoté and Chardonnay vines that cover the site in autumn, a stark contrast to the bright red leaves of the Pinot Noir. The production philosophy of this Domaine is based on traditional methods such as pressing the grapes with the feet, which produces a must that is fermented in the same open vat and then moved to wooden barrels, made up of 15% new wood. The Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru Monts Luisants 2017 shows a ruby red colour tending towards garnet, with an elegant nose of spices and red fruits. The sip is elegant, enveloping and persistent with a mineral and savoury finish.
